Noah Saved My Life

not literally...but it's a fun story anyway :)

So the other night while we were having family prayers a giant spider (probably really not very big) emerged from nowhere and started coming straight for me (at least that's my perspective.) Noah didn't hesitate, he smashed the spider with his bare hands. He save my life (yes I know my life wasn't actually in danger, but I don't really like spiders.)

I decided (to try and be funny) to show my gratitude for his selfless act. I made him some cookies and even gave him a bowl of cookie dough and a thank you note. I told him that any son who would put his own safety at risk to save his mother certainly earned a reward! He got a good laugh (and cookie dough) out of it!

Another Black Widow

Ok...I thought that the last one was huge...this one was even bigger.

I had been observing this one for a couple of weeks (making sure it stayed where it was) It was actually pretty fascinating to watch her.

I finally bought some insect killer and then when my parents came over last night my dad helped me spray around the house. I could do every where except right where the spider was. I know it's not logical but I kept envisioning her seeing the poison coming and jumping into my face, ha ha! So my dad was nice enough to spray her for me and then we got her on a stick to get a picture.
You can see my finger in the picture too for reference.
The second picture is blurry, sorry , but you can kind of see the red on her underbelly.
Grace and Anna of course named it Big Widdy and buried it next to the other black widow :)

Bees, Snails and a Black Widow

I loved watching the bees and the snails in my flower bed yesterday.

I didn't really love finding a black widow, but of course
I knew I had to catch it so Grace would be able to see it.

I know these are not great pictures, but you can make out
the red hour glass in this last one.
So...what happened to the black widow you may ask..
well, I was keen on just releasing it back into the back yard so
I'm sorry to tell you that it died.
The cute part of the story is that Grace and Anna named it Widdy and buried it in the back yard.
