Dallin Got His Permit

He had a little fun with the picture I took on my phone.
He wanted to put silly sticker heads on the people in the background :)

Funny Clippings

Going through things at my Grandma's house I've come across some interesting things. I've enjoyed reading journal entries of hers and looking at old pictures. She also kept a bunch of newspaper clippings and poems and things that she must have liked. Here are some that I thought were pretty great. Enjoy!

Things our kids say - November

11-2 Anna: This is the worst game to play on fast Sunday! (Candy land)

11-2 Anna: Mom, you're a picture maniac...in a good way!
11-4 Anna: Dad’s my boss
Me: I thought I was your boss
Anna: You're my vice boss

11-14 I grabbed my camera to snap a picture of Grace and this is what she did.
Lovely :)

11-16 Dallin: I bet I can fit that whole thing (a big soup ladle) in my mouth.
He couldn't do it by the way...but it was funny watching him try :)

11-24 Dallin: Dad is as genius at that (national security law) as I am at figuring out things that are hard.

11-24 Noah: They do a good job as long as they do a good job.
...so profound :)

11-24 Dallin: I haven't drank that much that fast since the last time I drank that much.

11-24 Isaac: I wonder what dragon boogers look like.

11-25 Isaac: I feel like saying something, but I won't. It's the word shut and then a direction...

11-25 Isaac: I wish I could give Mrs. Gagon (his school teacher) a magical thing that she could use to make everyone be quiet.

I know I missed probably missed a lot from this month... :(

Noah Saved My Life

not literally...but it's a fun story anyway :)

So the other night while we were having family prayers a giant spider (probably really not very big) emerged from nowhere and started coming straight for me (at least that's my perspective.) Noah didn't hesitate, he smashed the spider with his bare hands. He save my life (yes I know my life wasn't actually in danger, but I don't really like spiders.)

I decided (to try and be funny) to show my gratitude for his selfless act. I made him some cookies and even gave him a bowl of cookie dough and a thank you note. I told him that any son who would put his own safety at risk to save his mother certainly earned a reward! He got a good laugh (and cookie dough) out of it!

Things our kids say - August

8-7 Dallin: He (Noah) never always does his chores every day.

8-9 Anna: Every time I jump out of a tree I turn into an old lady.
8-10 Dallin: Mom, if I die from eating these (apricot nuts) then put on my tombstone, “He died a tasty death!"

8-10 Grace: He gets to wear things that aren't cool yet. (said about Greg)

8-12 Isaac: Whoa Dad, I was kind of afraid that you would do something spontaneous!

8-14 Isaac: Mom, I’m about to say my prayer, so don’t making any obnoxious noises.

8-15 Dallin: Mom when I grow up I'm getting a Saint Bernard, don't let me forget.

8-18 Anna: We're going to be late on the first day of school because we forgot how to wake up.

8-19 Grace: Mom, if you don't make it back from Target alive, I'll drive. I've done it so many times in my dreams I've got it down!

8-21 Isaac: I haven't had chocolate milk for a while and once I start it's really hard to stop.

8-27 Dallin: I'm listening to my favorite song (What a Wonderful World) it's the only song that makes me happy.
I think going to the shooting range makes him happy too...
and Noah somehow managed to stay off the list this month,
but I had to include him in a picture anyway :)

Things our kids say - October

10-4 Me: Noah how are you feeling today.
Noah: I look a little better.

10-6 Isaac: What if a missionary found a vampire and he was like "is blood against the word of wisdom?"
10-6 Isaac: Can I nibble on your hair?

10-6 Anna: I really wish I could be a dog. It looks so fun!
Isaac: but being a dog has it's disadvantages too.

10-6 Dallin: Johnny Depp is always never in a movie or he's the main character

10-9 Dallin: When I grow up and I'm on my mission and my companion won't cook for me I'm just going to go buy a tub of cookie dough and eat that.

10-11 Dallin: I didn't know how many things I could swallow whole until I got braces.
(All I know is that's a whole lot of mustard!)
10-12 Isaac: Noah's growing a mustache like a Mexican. Why do Mexicans grow mustaches faster than we do. I want to grow a mustache!

10-23 Isaac in a prayer: ...and bless dad that he'll know what he's doing.

10-25 Noah: I made the wrong mistake.

10-25 Anna: How could anybody work somewhere that's open 24 hours? They would never get any sleep.

10-25 Anna: Why do people think McDonald's is so great, it's not as good as Chick-fil-a!

10-25 Anna: (Looking at some lime slices.) Those look like not lemons.
...and those look like not your shoes :)

10-26 Isaac: I'm going to be a food cricket...I mean critic :)

10-29 Isaac: This is my weapon, it can either heal you, kill you, or turn you into a baby elephant.

I'm sure Grace said something and I just missed it...(I know I miss a lot of them because I think I will remember them and then I don't) so here's a picture of Grace anyway :)

Things our kids say - September

9-1 Dallin: DIA stands for Dallin is awesome.
Isaac: No it stands for dad is awesome.
I think Dallin and Dad are both awesome :)

9-4 Isaac: It's impossible not to think about the Sparks.
(This is Isaac and Andrew Sparks before both families left Maryland. They got along so well!)
9-9 Isaac: I have to take out the trash? That's an old lady job!

9-10 Dallin: Grace no matter how old you get you will always be younger than me

9-12 Isaac: Mom I'm going to be a wizard when I grow up.

9-12 Anna: I wish Mr. Thompson could come here and teach me science.
I bet he misses teaching science to this cutie!

9-13 Isaac: What if dad deployed to Maryland to be a bus driver?

9-13 Noah: I totally sprayed the room with my awesomeness.
(Overheard while the boys were playing.)

9-18 Anna: I'm so happy that we have a blue house blue houses are fun.

9-20 Isaac: I thought cooking was a girls sport.

9-20 What flavor is it Dallin?
Dallin: Um blue and pink.

9-21 Isaac: I feel bad for mutated animals and beings.

9-21 Grace: Oh, I wanted to lick grandmas head.
I guess that's after she licks Anna :)
9-22 Noah: Man young women are always so nice. That's why young men are awesome because they aren't always like that they can always surprise you.
9-22 Dallin: Wouldn't it be messed up if we found out that grandpa was just buying all this wooden stuff and then etching our names on it.

Things our kids say - August

8-3 Noah: what does FFA mean?
Mike: Future Farmers of America maybe
Noah: I thought it was freedom fighters of ...something
Grace: I think it means free for all!
...but at least we know it doesn't mean free octopus for all...and yes, she ate it!

8-4 Anna (right after Mike was released from the Bishopric): It's going to be weird to sit by dad in church.

8-5 Anna. It's not hard to move when you're a baby, but when you're older it's hard.

8-5 Anna. (pulls a dime from her pocket): Oh my dime! I don't use this dime cuz Sophie gave it to me.
Grace: What are you going to do with it?
Anna: I'm going to keep it for a memory.

8-5 Isaac. It smells so good I have to plug my nose!

8-6 Anna: I think it might be cool to be an elephant because you could spray water on yourself with your trunk.
That might be handy if your head was on fire :)

8-6 Dallin: Look now I'm like president Volk. (Wearing his sunglasses on the back of his head)

8-7 Isaac: The older you get the more stories you should tell. Maybe that's why it takes parents so long to get to the car.

8-7 Isaac: I wish you could control when you fart, that would be awesome!

8-9 Grace: How do you spell Nauvoo?
Me: N-a-u-v-o-o
Anna: I thought there was a silent b?

8-9 Noah: Aaa! This is too much corn, we're going to die

8-11 Noah: It just feels so weird, soon my parents are going to be old!
I bet Dallin thinks something else feels so weird...being squished by his brother with a mattress :)
8-11 Noah: ...and then mom said you're an idiot.
Me: I never said that
Noah:  This is based on a true story.

8-24 Me: Dallin I'm worried about you!
Dallin: I'm worried about me too.

8-24 Isaac: I think dad has a special part in his body that makes him not cry.

8-24 Isaac: I have an aura that I can convert into a wifi connection anytime I want!
...I wish that was true, ha ha!

8-30 Anna: Mom my teacher said that if any of us are taller than her at the end of the year she gets to slap us with her bendy ruler...on the top of the head.
Me: That sounds like child abuse.
Anna: It's better than a yard stick.

8-31 Part of Isaac's prayer. ...and please help us believe that we can do great things.

Silly Summer Fun

Yesterday Grace, Isaac and Anna were taking turns sandwiching each
other between the front door and the glass door.
Great summertime boredom buster idea :)

Things our kids say - May

5-1 Noah: I bet Tolkien is one of the richest dead people alive...I mean...dead people.

5-2 Driving the kids to school this morning it was fun listening in on their conversation about what they would do if they were on The Voice. Grace said that she would sing a country song and then pick Adam as her coach just to make Blake mad.

5-4 Dallin: I want to sing a song about mushroom clouds...

5-5 Random outburst from Dallin: Mexican Doritos!

5-7 For Anna's spelling homework, she had to use 2 or 3 of her spelling words in sentences. One of the sentences she wrote made me laugh. I taped my mom to a tree while she was jogging and my mom was not pleased.

5-8 Isaac: We've lived here so long I can walk to the bus stop backwards!

5-8 Isaac: I bet in a few years they'll make edible driving wheels (he means steering wheels.)

5-12 Isaac: Dad knows everything, but Mom knows more. (This might be one of my all time favorite quotes!)

5-12 Mike: I'm going to tickle Isaac
Isaac to Dallin (riding on Dallin's back): Run for my life!

5-12 Mike told Noah to get the ice cream out. Noah said, "I can't, my back hurts...I'm not supposed to do heavy lifting."

5-13 Grace: I'm making an m&m sandwich mom, meat and mustard!

5-15 Grace: George Washington had the mother of all shoulder pad things. They were amazingly majestic!

5-16 Today I found an invitation that Grace made for Mike for the Daddy daughter dance. This is what it said. Hi Dad, You are invited being forced to...Dance!

5-17 Anna: Mom, if I had you for a mom first and then had a different mom that would be weird because I'm so used to looking at your face.

5-18 I called everyone for breakfast this morning and Isaac came and said, "I'm only here for the chimichangas!"

5-18 Isaac: Sometimes I just talk to myself spontaneously.

5-19 I overheard Anna say, "Grace don't be surprised, I have a really big burp coming so don't be surprised when it comes."

5-20 Anna: Mom it's a good thing we don't litter because we couldn't afford it.
(We were driving and she read a sign that said fine for littering up to $1000)

5-21 Isaac: The Percy Jackson series is like popcorn...once you start you don't want to stop!
5-21 Anna was upset with Grace for not shutting the door and she hollered at her "Put the door away!"

5-22 Isaac: Chess is like a sport for your mind. It's gets your brain running strategies!

5-22 Isaac: I bet somewhere in the world a cheeseburger is being made, and maybe somewhere in the world a basketball player is eating lunch.

5-26 Isaac: What if the answer to everything was yes?!

5-29 Anna: I wish we had a piano in the car, like on the roof...that would be awesome!

5-30 Noah: I think electric shock makes you smarter.

Things our kids say - April

4-5 Noah: I wonder if I cut my toe off and microwaved it and greased it up if she (Sasha) would eat it.
um...eww!!
4-5 Isaac: I saw Sasha looking into the sunset once and I said how classic!

4-7 Isaac: Dad's having a huge conversation with that other guy and it's never going to end!

4-7 Dallin: Mom, I have a really important question to ask you. Does Tigger say t i double ga er or t i double gee er?

4-8 After having a taste of Mike's banana milkshake.
Anna: Isn't that so good?
Isaac: (with his mouth full) I'm not going to swallow cause it's too good... dang it I swallowed!

4-9 Grace: Mr. Amore's wife and his mom ganged up on him and made him shave his cool beard off. We spent an entire recess just being sad about it!
Noah: Oh the things married people will do.

4-10 Isaac was reading the lunch menu and he said, veterinarian bean chili. I laughed and asked him if he meant vegetarian bean chili. Yep.

4-10 I told Isaac to comb his hair. He said, "What? Today's not picture day, and I combed my hair yesterday!"

4-13 I said that I'd love to get Isaac in martial arts and he said, "why martial arts, why not karate!"

4-13 Noah: I hope I'm as young looking as Grandpa is when I'm 70.

4-15 Noah: Mom, do you understand what I'm saying?
Mike: Mom has a PhD in awesome...of course she understands.
(Ok, so Mike is not one of my kids, but I don't want to forget that he said that, so I included it in here!)

4-16 Dallin to Noah: How much do you weigh?
Noah: About 115...but that was before I pooped.

4-23 Anna: My favorite color is cheese!

4-23 Grace: Dallin is scary like a little onion!

4-24 Isaac was doing his homework and I asked him why he doesn't always do his best. He answered, "Cause if I do my best I'll get worn out!"

4-25 Anna: I got up before I was supposed to so I wouldn't have to go through trouble.

4-25 Isaac: To practice swallowing a pill this is what you need: a tic tac, water, and a uvula.

4-29 Noah to Mike: You're going to get yourself killed popping wheelies in your mid-thirties!

4-29 When Isaac came home from school, I looked at him and asked him if he had 2 jackets on...his response was, "No, I'm just super buff!"
4-29 Part of Isaac's prayer: ...and thank thee for all the fun we've ever had in our life.

Things our kids say - March

3-1 Isaac: Why do we clean...is it all about looks? If it's all about looks then can't we just hang up a big picture of a clean room over the mess?
3-4 We had brownies tonight for a treat and after the kids had one I told them they could each have another half of one. Isaac said, "part of me thinks I shouldn't and part of me thinks I should...I'm going to listen to the part of me that thinks I should." and he took another half :)

3-6 Dallin: I'm going to move to Ireland so I can get a cool accent.

3-8 I told Grace to do her chore, which was the laundry. She gets all the dirty clothes and heads downstairs. Next thing I hear, "Isaac get out of the washer!"

3-12 Dallin: If I ever have a girlfriend I'm not taking her out to eat.
Me: Why?
Dallin: Because then I can't do this (licks his plate)
Oh boy!
3-13 Anna and I went to Red Robin, just the two of us. She said, "this will be great, we can have our own conversation." I asked her what she wanted to talk about...she said, "I don't know, random stuff."

3-18 Isaac: I wish cupcake wars was throwing cupcakes at each other instead of cooking them.

3-19 Anna stuffed her blanket in her shirt and said, "Look Mom, I need to go on Biggest Loser!"

3-20 Isaac: Mom this hole has a sock in it!

3-23 Grace: Isaac you're making fun of a good song!
Isaac: No I'm not, I'm making fun of an awesome song!

3-25 Grace: (Looking at the snow outside) Spring can be really confusing!
3-31 The kids were playing hot and cold to find some of the Easter eggs and Dallin was very close to finding one. Noah said, "Dallin is the hottest man on earth!"
(this picture doesn't really go with that quote, but I thought it was funny that he was playing with this little kiddie game)
