We Love Yard Sales!

Anyone who knows me very well, will know that I love yard sales. Mike likes them too, and our kids love them. We have even finally been able to get them to understand that we don't have any control over what we will find at yard sales. That discussion was prompted by frequent questions like "Can you take us to a yard sale that has boy stuff?" "Can we go to a yard sale that has Pokemon stuff?" "Will the next yard sale have something I like?" Anyway, they know now that it's hit or miss with yard sales.
This morning when we went out, the first yard sale we went to had this cute Barbie Jeep.
Anna and Grace ran straight for it and I even eyed it a little (Mike rolled his eyes at it.) Needless to say it came home with us for a mere $20. The girls (and the boys) have had a lot of fun with it already.

Dallin said I wouldn't catch him in a Barbie Jeep...
ha ha ha...I did!

This little 4 wheeler was a $5 yard sale find.
This fun race car was also a yard sale find at $3.
Yeah, we love yard sales!

At the Duck Pond

Today we took a little excursion to a duck pond. The kids loved feeding the ducks and the geese. They tried to feed the turtles too, but they didn't seem too interested. Isaac wanted to feed himself most of the time! Anna especially loved to throw bread to the birds in the water and watch them gobble it up.Noah found some guys fishing and was watching them. One of them asked Noah if he would like to hold the fishing pole. Of course he did! "Mom you really need to take me fishing again, I've only been fishing once in my whole entire life!"
A bad thing happened while we were there. My camera broke. It will no longer take pictures. For some of you this might not be a big deal, but for me it is devastating. Because of it, I only have a few pictures of our duck pond fun, and now I have to take my camera in to get fixed. Thank goodness I have a back up camera.

Fun With Family

We had a couple of little visits from Grandma and Grandpa Bush over the past week or so. They were traveling to Maine and so they stopped to see us on the way there and the way back home. They brought Titus with them and he stayed with us while they went on their trip. We had a good time with all of them. We went to see Kung Fu Panda, we went on walks (discovering loads of poison ivy), we played games (laughing and giggling fits were involved...Grandpa really got us all going with his accidental dice trick!) We made cookies with cookie play dough again... ...Grandma was very pleased with her cookie monster...She said it was the cutest cookie she had ever made! We did crossword puzzles together, Grandpa did a couple of projects for me (fixed my bathroom light switch and put in a new cabinet door), We also played outside (Titus and Anna raced down the driveway),

Grandpa did a back flip on the trampoline, giving great delight to the kids - I wish I had a video of that! We had puppet shows too.
We really had a wonderful time together. We love visits from family!

Guess what, guess what!

Grace came home from school today so excited. She ran to me from the bus yelling "Mom, guess what, guess what!" Of course I said "what?" The cause of all of the excitement was hiding in a cute little pink treasure chest in her backpack. On top of the tiny plastic box were the words "Tooth Saver." You guessed it, she lost her first tooth. The little box is already under her pillow and she is showing off her new smile.

A Turtle in the Road

As I was bringing the kids home from preschool today I saw a large rock in the middle of the road. As I got a little closer it looked like it had a head. As I got even closer, the head disappeared...a turtle of course. So I pulled over and got the kids out of the car and we walked over to see the turtle. Isaac and Anna were so excited. It was a little painted turtle. I (shame shame) didn't have my camera with me, so I got these pictures off the internet, but this is what it looked like. Anna and Isaac crouched down to watch it. As I was talking about the turtle I called it "he" -- Anna said "Mom how do you know it's a boy?" Then as they were watching it try to climb up the hill on the shoulder of the road Anna said "Hi turtle, are you scared, do you want your mommy?" Isaac said, "Anna, it's not talking, or saying ribbit ribbit." To which Anna replied, "Isaac, it's not a frog, it's a turtle!" They cheered for the turtle as he (or she) climbed the hill and Isaac exclaimed "he's a good climber!" Then after we got home and sat down to lunch, Isaac included the turtle in his prayer over the food..."and please bless the turtle that he will find his mommy." So sweet. Just a little adventure in our everyday life, that makes me stop and appreciate nature and my precious children. I do love being a mom!
