Engagement Pics for Shannon and Joey

On Saturday I took some engagement photos for my niece Shannon and her fiance Joey.
(*my camera was still having trouble and I found out that it was my lens actually, so I have it in the shop getting fixed and I bought another lens, a portrait lens, so I could still take their pictures and not have to reschedule. I'm kind of glad this happened and forced me to get another lens, because I really think I like this lens!)
Anyway, they are such a cute couple!
Here are some of my favorites.
I think they are pretty happy with them, which is the most important thing :)

Titus & Stevie

Weddings are wonderful!
(They are also stressful for me if I'm doing the photography, ha ha)
My nephew Titus was married on the 6th.
Congratulations Titus and Stevie!
Hope you have a wonderful life together.
Here are a few pictures from their special day.
My niece Eve, was a super cute flower girl!

Titus made cheesecake for the wedding cake.

Welcome Asher David Bush!

I was asked by my brother Greg and sister-in-law Blythe if I

would take some pictures in the delivery room.
Needless to say, I was extremely nervous!
I wanted to make sure that I caught the moments they wanted.

My camera had been acting up a lot lately,

but I believe that my prayers were answered and it worked great the whole time!
Monday May 11th was the day!

A few of my favorites.
Greg waiting.
This day had been a long time coming,
fought for with a lot of tears, patience, heartache, faith and yes...money.
My brother is such a goofball! I love him!
So happy for them! They are going to be wonderful parents.
 Love, just sweet!
 Both moms/grandmas looking on
 Asher is here!
...and after I saw this one on my computer at home I kind of laughed.
It looks like he is giving them the finger, ha ha!
 Father and son hands...precious!
 Another of Greg and Asher
New little family
I got to hold him too!

Recreating a Photo

My Dad wanted me to take a picture for him, he was trying to recreate one of his favorite old pictures of himself.
Here's how we did. I think it's pretty good for not looking at the picture while we were trying to recreate it...just going from memory.

Photo Shoot

I finally took the kids out for a photo shoot. It has been long overdue.
They have been begging me to replace the pictures that currently hang over the stairs...they are about 4 years old! Needless to say, they have all grown quite a bit since then and so I'm glad I took the time to get some new pictures taken.

I'm pretty happy with how they turned out. I'm still having fun playing around with them, but here's a small sampling. Hope you like them.

Well there you go. They sure are good lookin' kids, if I do say so myself!
Which ones are your favorites?...not the kids...the pictures :)

Dew Date

Ok, so it wasn't actually a date...but I got to meet Sheri Dew last night :)

The Mormon Tabernacle Choir had a concert on Wednesday at Wolf Trap. I got to do some photography at the VIP reception just before the concert, and she was one of the VIPs.
(Thank you to President and Sister Matsumori for introducing me to her.)

It was a beautiful night and the reception was very nice. Mike and I had a good time seeing some of the people in attendance. Not to mention being able to sample some of the delicious desserts after the reception was over... miniature crème brûlée, a delicious sorbet served in a miniature goblet, mini tarts, small squares of chocolatey goodness...ok, I'm getting off track :)

Anyway, our payment for doing the photography was VIP seating for the concert. The concert was great! It's fun to see the choir sing things that you would never hear in General conference. There were a couple of songs with some featured soloist that were amazing. They also did a whole section of music from stage and screen. They ended with 2 of their most requested pieces, Come Come Ye Saints and Battle Hymn of the Republic...but that of course wasn't actually the end. They did an encore set including God Bless America and This Land is Your Land, guest conducted by Virginia Senator Mark Warner, then finally ending with God Be With You Till We Meet Again. We really enjoyed the evening.

*Crazy coincidence...as we walked to our seats to sit down we saw Keith and Jeanene Davey (in-laws to two of my brothers) sitting directly behind us. Out of 4000 seats...what are the odds of that! It was great to see them.

Dinner with President Eyring

Ok...so the title is a little bit overstated...
Mike and I went with our good friends the Volks to the annual BYU Marriott Management Society Gala Dinner last night. President Henry B. Eyring was the guest of honor. I had the privilege to do some photography at the event, so I got to follow him around and snap some pictures. He was so gracious to everyone and he has a great sense of humor. I feel blessed to have been able to be there and hear his message and to get to meet him.
It was a wonderful evening, we even bumped into Keith and Jeanene Davey and got to have a couple short conversations with them. It was nice to see them again.
Lisa Hopkins Seegmiller performed, and she was simply excellent. She is in our Stake and is super talented. I think she is the only person that I actually know who has her own Wikipedia page.It was such an enjoyable evening. I love date night!

Photography Exhibit

This afternoon we went up to the Washington D.C. Temple Visitors Center. One of my pictures is hanging in a photography exhibit there, and will be there until September 14th. It is a picture of our backyard that I took last Valentine's Day when we had an ice storm, it's one of Mike's favorites.
