Tevia and Kim Visit

This past weekend was great! I had a visit from one of my dearest, long-time friends, Tevia. She came to Utah with a friend of her's named Kim, who I now consider a friend of mine.

They were making the trip so that Kim could take advantage of the family history resources in Salt Lake City. She is so excited about family history! Just being around her and watching her find new things made me get excited about it too :)

The first night they were here I helped Kim a little bit. I got her set up on FamilySearch. When Mike got home he helped her a lot more with her genealogy. It was actually just fun to be in the room observing her as she came across people she hadn't found before.
Friday, they spent most of their day in Salt Lake so I didn't see them much that day, I had to go to work anyway so it was fine. They got back pretty late, we stayed up a little bit talking about their day.

On Saturday I made puff pancakes for breakfast. I cut up some fresh mango to go on them too. I think they were really tasty. After that, Tevia and Kim and I headed out for a girls day. We drove up Provo Canyon. I think Kim was excited to see some snow still on the ground and she really loved the mountains. We stopped at Bridal Veil Falls for a photo op. I pretty sureKim got a picture too...but I didn't get one of her.

Next we went to the BYU bookstore.
Look closely, you can see the Y on the mountain

After the bookstore we had a nice lunch at a hawaiian barbecue place and then got some delicious ice cream at the BYU Creamery. I had the caramel cashew, it was amazing!
Saturday night Tevia was awesome (which is nothing new) and bought Austenland so that we could watch it. Love the book and really loved the movie too :)

On Sunday they had to leave. I was sad to see them go, but so glad that they came out for a visit and even more glad that they stayed at our house. Good friends are truly a blessing in life, Tevia has blessed my life for many years. I'm so thankful for her friendship and I can't say enough good things about her. She is simply one of the best people I know!

Visiting my Grandma

This past Friday and Saturday we* went to Ogden to visit with my grandma. As I said her health is rapidly declining and we aren't sure how much longer she will be with us.

*includes me, Isaac, Anna, my parents, Jan, Joe and Melanie and their kids.

We left Friday afternoon and stayed in a hotel that night. Thanks to Joe's Marriott discount, it wasn't bad. We had a nice dinner at Cracker Barrel before we went over to Grandma's. I got some pictures of my parents holding baby Levi, he's a cutie!

We spent some time with Grandma Friday night, she was much more responsive than she had been. I fed her a little Jell-o and gave her some water. I sang to her, Jan rubbed her feet and brushed her hair a little. She is simply an angel! She responded well to Joe and Melanie's new baby, Levi. She loves babies!

After a little bit, most everyone headed back to the hotel, but a few of us stayed behind to help with a family history project. My aunt Georgia is here from Denmark, to spend time with her mom and to help with things around the house. She is also trying to get some pictures and obituaries and other sources uploaded to family search before she takes a bunch of it back to Denmark with her, so we helped with that. It was actually pretty fun and interesting to just upload pictures with my phone and attach them to family search profiles.

On Saturday, I felt like I should stay at the hotel with Melanie to help her with her kids. We went to the pool and watched them there. They had a great time! Eve stretched out and said, "now this is what I call relaxing!" It was so cute.

I took some slow motion videos of them jumping in the pool, and they loved that!

I'm glad that we went, it was nice to spend time with my sweet Grandma
and the kids had some fun cousin time.

Recreating a Photo

My Dad wanted me to take a picture for him, he was trying to recreate one of his favorite old pictures of himself.
Here's how we did. I think it's pretty good for not looking at the picture while we were trying to recreate it...just going from memory.

Great Grandpa's Ties

I've been helping out with some cleaning and stuff at my Grandma's house and my uncles house in Ogden. I was happy to have the chance to get some of my Grandpa Elmer's ties. My boys each wore one to church yesterday. They never got the chance to know him because he died when I was about 14. I always felt a closeness to him though because I was born on his birthday. He was such a great man.

I think they look great!
