Field Day 2015

I volunteered at Field Day again this year.
I wasn't sure what I'd be doing, but I got to be at the parachute station with Mrs. Kordsieman.
I was able to snap a few pictures of Isaac and Anna when their classes came through.
Since I was at this station though, I didn't see them doing anything else, but I know that they had fun!

Bailey, Anna and Bailee :)

Mini Trek with Anna

I got to spend the day with Anna and her 4th grade class.
They put together a pioneer day, with a mini trek and other activities.

 The taffy pull
Slingshot, stick pull, cat's cradle and washboard relay
We had a good time!
Luckily the weather held out most of the day.
We had a light sprinkle during some of the games, but mostly the weather was fine.
Overcast and cool.

Aladdin!

The 6th grade play was Aladdin Jr. this year.
I helped direct again and had a great time working with the kids.
Isaac was one of the narrators and he did a wonderful job!
The wonderful 6th grade teachers that I get to work with.
Some onstage shots
Offstage fun

Me with some of the leads
Noah had already purchased comic con tickets for the weekend
so I had him come and watch the school performance on Thursday.
The rest of the family saw it Friday night.
Grandma and Grandpa Bush and Holden came to see it too.
We treated him to a blizzard and some fries for all his hard work!

Fun at Skate Night

The school sponsored a skate night last week
and Isaac and Anna really wanted to go, so I decided why not.
I'm glad we went, they had so much fun!
I had a pretty good time to.

I caught some of their silliness on video :)

Veteran's Day

Mike was asked to speak at a community gathering on Veteran's Day morning.
He did a great job as always!
Later we went to the school for the Veteran's Day assembly.
Isaac got to go and salute Mike and give him the Army flag.

We love our Veteran!
We are so thankful for the many men and women who serve our country in the armed forces.
They (and their families) sacrifice so much for our freedoms.

We love America!

Field Day Fun

I had fun helping out a field day on Tuesday.
I worked at the dunking booth, which was fun
because Grace was a dunkee since she was
a member of the Student Association :)

Anna's Patriotic Program

Yesterday the whole 4th grade put on a Patriotic Program.
They had been practicing songs for it for quite a while.
She was so cute walking around the house singing 'They're Coming to America'
and 'Forty Hour Week' along with several others.
She also was chosen to sing in a small group the first verse of 'America the Beautiful' because she worked hard at the extra memorizing.

She was supposed to wear a blue shirt, I love that she picked her BYU football shirt :)

Teddy Bear Picnic

The elementary school had a Teddy Bear Picnic yesterday.
Grace, Isaac and Anna were excited to eat lunch with their stuffed animals...
oh and me, but mostly their stuffed animals :)

Battle of the Books

..or as the kids call it B.O.B.

Grace and Anna participated in the Battle of the Books at school. They were given a list of books that they had to read and they were put on grade level teams. At the end of several months they had battles between different teams. They would be asked questions from the books on the list and hopefully someone on their team had read the book. I know they enjoyed the reading, and though neither of their teams made the grade level championship battle, they still had a good time.

Because Anna had read a certain number of books she made the student all-star team. This was a team that was made up of students from each grade. She was excited about that! I went to the assembly toady where the student All-stars battled the teachers. It was a close battle but the students ended up winning in a tie-breaking round.

Bad picture, but you can see Anna in the front in the pink jacket, and Anna's teacher is in the zebra outfit :)

I'm so glad that my kids love to read :)

Scales and Tails Show

The elementary school had a live reptile show, they had non-reptiles also.
Grace and Anna were eager to sit in the very front on the floor, Isaac was more than happy to stay back in the chairs with me :)

After the show, which was very interesting and well done, the kids were allowed to come up and touch some of the animals.

Beauty & the Beast

I volunteered to help as a Director for the 6th grade play at the elementary school.
(I also helped a little with the costumes)
They did Beauty & the Beast this year.
The cast and crew with their teachers.

It required a lot of my time and patience. There were times when I didn't want to go back, ha ha, but for the most part it was a great experience. The kids were very well-behaved, mostly and eager to participate.

Grace played the part of one of the girls who fawns over Gaston. Her official part in the program was listed as Silly Girl #4.

She had a lot of fun being a part of the play and she told me that she wants to do more...kind of makes me happy that one of my kids is interested in something I was interested in school.
Grace with a couple of her friends on the set crew, Julianne and Alora
Grace and her friend Grace who played Babette (the feather duster)

Anyway, after months of after school practices, the 2 amazing 6th grade teachers, a lot of awesome parent volunteers, and hard-working 6th graders, we were finally ready to perform.
They did 2 performances on February 11th, one during the school hours for all the students, and one that evening. I actually had my family come to the one during the day. I even got Noah and Dallin out of school so they could see it. Then that night Noah and Dallin went to scouts so Anna and Isaac came with me.

Grace did a fantastic job, all the kids did!
I was so proud of them and how hard they had worked.
It was so sweet of them to call me up on stage after the show and give me a beautiful bouquet of roses.
Our Belle
Our beast
I gave Grace a little bouquet of flowers after the show too.
After the evening show I took Grace out for a milkshake at Chick-fil-A. Yes, we were celebrating her awesomeness :)

Isaac's Recorder Performance

Isaac learned to play the recorder at school.
He enjoyed it, but told me that he thought his recorder was too squeaky :)

I thought he did a great job and he is just too cute!

Orchestra Concert

Dallin did a great job at his orchestra concert.

I love that he is sticking with the violin,
just wish I could crack the code to getting him to practice more :)

Spelling Bee

Dallin was one of 17 students (out of 143 who tried) to make it to the finals of the spelling bee for his school.
He didn't win, but he did a good job.

I thought it was kind of ironic that "extinguish" was the word he got out on.
And I knew he knew how to spell it too...he totally just left out the 2nd "i" and thought he had said it.

Chorus Concert

Grace and Anna participated in chorus at school.
This meant that they had to go to school early every Tuesday and Thursday for quite a while.
(another reason I'm so glad the school is across the street)

They had a good time learning the songs and were excited to perform them.
They performed at the University Mall and at the school too.
