Fun Family Home Evening Activity

Last night our FHE activity was a lot of fun.
My mom set up a few relay games for us.
One of the favorites is pictured below.
We put a tennis ball in one leg of panty hose and then put it on our head.
Then we had to knock over water bottles with the ball, no hands allowed!
Isaac and Anna starting us off.
Dallin and I going head to head :)

I think Dallin left us all in the dust on the paper airplane relay
We also had a good lesson on journals from Dallin
and Marcy made some delicious blackberry cobbler
(with fresh berries from her backyard). We added some ice cream too!

Later we played 2 dollar basketball
and this cutie was the winner!

Provo Beach Resort

We had some family fun last night at the Provo Beach Resort.
It's a pretty cool place.
I didn't get very many pictures because we were just enjoying the fun.

Anna was actually pretty good at the basketball game.
I was lucky enough to catch one of her streaks :)

Bonus: It was free because Mike belongs to Corporate Alliance and it was an event they had for their members and their families.

Sparklers and Fireworks

Saturday night we spent the evening at our friends the Vance's. We lit sparklers and then watched some fireworks from their front lawn. We also had some yummy treats. Here are some of our sparkler pics.

Then on Monday night for our FHE activity we lit off our little fireworks in the road in front of our house. Our neighbors, the Tinsleys, saw us and came out to join us, bringing a box of fireworks to share.

Hey, Let's Go Bowling!

Last night we went bowling as a family. The kids were so excited and had a great time. I have to say that we are all better bowlers on the Wii, but we had fun anyway.
Just a few shots of our bowling fun!

Grace's Lesson

Last night it was Grace's turn to teach the lesson for family home evening. I asked her early on in the day what she would like to teach about. "Bodies," she said very confidently. I asked her if she needed any help. "Maybe with spelling some words," she replied. I told her to go ahead and do her best and try to spell on her own. Well...later on it was time for the lesson and it was great. Mike and I tried not to laugh, we didn't want her to feel self conscious about her lesson and all the work she had put into it.
Anyway, here's her lesson.

Body's
Ta Day we will Lrn abaut are body's do you know wute a youvyelle is ?
a Youvyelle is suomthig that you do not tuch do you know yie?

you dont tuch it or we Miyt throup

and yie do you have a body?

Hoe gave ues ore body's?
(Translation if you had trouble)
Today we will learn about our bodies.
Do you know what a uvula is?
A uvula is something that you do not touch, do you know why?
You don't touch it or we might throw-up.
And why do you have a body?
Who gave us our bodies?
Then she had this picture on the back of her lesson and a question for each one of us to answer. It's a girl who has choices of what to put in her body.
1. no smoking or smoking
2. fish or pizza
3. tons and tons of candy, or 1 candy
4. gum or watermelon
5. banana or laffy taffy
6. fish or PB and J
7. boogers or a popsicle

We passed her test, I hope you chose well.
The other kids really liked her lesson, who knows maybe one of them had been feeling the urge to touch their uvula and now, they won't...and I (or rather Mike) won't have to clean up throw up.

What a great job she did all on her own, isn't she a cutie! What a joy it is to have her in our family. We love you Gracie!

Sock Puppet FHE

Yesterday it was Isaac's turn to teach the lesson for family home evening. We made sock puppets and had them teach for us. Isaac named the puppets, the mom was Libby and the little boy was Zach (no surprise there!) We had a lot of fun and everyone really liked the lesson. The other kids had a hard time not giggling through the whole lesson, what can we say Isaac is a funny kid! In fact, mom and dad had a hard time too.We took some video, I will try to upload a little bit of it!
