Honey, I Shrunk the Kids!
Actually, these are just giant weeds that have overtaken part of our backyard.
Embarrassing...I know!
To clarify the weeds weren't actually in the yard, they were back by the fence and the fruit trees.
They wouldn't have gotten that bad if we could have just mowed over them, ha ha!

Anyway, say what you will, sometimes you mean to get to things and then you don't.
Or your life is in such upheaval that some things don't matter...until they do :)
I knew that we needed to get rid of a good portion of the weeds in the backyard,
so I finally forced my kids to work and my mom is just a saint so she helped us.
P.S. You know this weed is tall if it's taller than Dallin!

My dad is awesome too...he hauled away a bunch of weeds and other trash for us!
As we were working we would come across the exact same weed in it's small form
Check out this little weed...this is what we should have been taking care of all along instead of letting them grow to this...
There's an object lesson in there somewhere :)

Prescreening Saints and Soldiers: The Void
I was able to get some free tickets to a prescreening of Saints and Soldiers: The Void on August 2nd. Mike was too tired to go so I took Noah with me, my mom and dad had tickets also so we all went together.
Noah was excited too because he won one of the prizes they had because he posted something on Instagram really fast. He got a copy of Saints and Soldiers: Airborne Creed.
It was pretty cool. I think we will try and support the movie and go see it when it comes out in theaters.
We watched the movie, which was really good and then we got to have a Q&A session with the writer and director and some of the actors.
We also got to meet them afterwords.
They gave everyone a poster that we could get autographed.

Fun by the Fire with Grandma and Grandpa
My Mom and Dad spontaneously invited us to come over and roast marshmallows.
It was a fun night filled with food and laughter and just being together.

Great Grandma
My Grandma recently came out for a visit. The last time we saw her was over 3 years ago. I am so glad that she came, and she was very patient with all the photo requests!
She and my Uncle Jimmy and my Mom and Dad were all staying at Bob and Dresden's house, so we went up Friday and spent some time with them.

She is 96 years old, well she will tell you she is 96 and 1/2 :)
She is sweet and wonderful and even though she is slowing down (she is 96 1/2 after all) she seemed to really enjoy being around all the kids.

My cousin Eric and his wife and kids were able to come from Virginia to spend some time with Grandma too.

Saturday night we went back for Micah's baptism, dinner and more visiting.
While she was here we were able to make a trip to the D.C. temple. What a sweet experience that was. We did a sealing session and it was just wonderful. We were there with my Grandma, my Mom and Dad, my Brother Bob and his wife Dresden, and Dresden's mom Carol. Uncle Jim stayed behind and helped Noah and Jonas watch all the kids. That night all the grown-ups went out to dinner together and had a great time.
Some random shots from our fun.

We thought it was pretty funny when we got to Bob's and saw that Killian, Dallin and Isaac were all wearing the same shirt...
What are the chances of that happening!
Loved this shot of Great Grandma and Evelyn
Me with Ironman...sticking his tongue out, ha ha!
Aric and Bob are both Doctors, so they were joking that together they are a paradox...or is it a paradocs :)

Trip to St. Lucia Day 7, Our Anniversary
Our departing flight was from a different airport so we were able to see some more of the island on the way to Vieux Fort. It really was beautiful. There were quite a few little scenic overlooks, but this one was the nicest I think.

Kind of a funny thing happened while we were stopped here taking pictures. Brother Marquis drove by and saw us so he stopped to visit, then the
DeBeauvilles drove by and stopped also. It was nice to see those wonderful people again before we left...and then we had someone there to take a group shot for us :)
When we got to Vieux Fort we stopped by the branch building there, Dad had to deliver some sacrament cups to them.
Then as we were heading out to go to the airport Dad got a call from the Sister missionaries there. They had a flat tire and they were very close to where we were so we went to help them out before going to the airport. Dad and Mike were their heroes :)
That's a pretty nasty looking tire!
Well, we really did have to leave, so Mom and Dad dropped us at the airport and we said our goodbyes...for now.
Then we spent the rest of our 15th anniversary on airplanes and in airports, hey we were together for the whole day and that was nice :)
*We have to give a big THANK YOU!! to Mike's mom for coming and staying with the kids so that we could go on this trip.

Trip to St. Lucia Day 6
Our last full day on the island :(
We started it off with walking on Reduit beach (we went to a different beach every day, I don't remember the names of all of them, I'll have to have my parents remind me...hopefully I got this one right!)
I'm not particularly loving any of the pictures of me from this trip...but oh well...I guess it will just give me some incentive to diet and exercise.
My Mom and Dad are so cute
After the beach we stopped into the grocery store for a few things. Man, ice cream is expensive there!! The price is in EC but in US dollars it would be about 9 or 10 bucks.
Then we went to feed the missionaries at their district meeting. One of the sisters was from the D.C. area and happened to be in the Mount Vernon Stake. We used to live in that stake...small world.
We also stopped in the market again to buy some souvenirs.

After that we headed off to find David the snake man so we could get a picture holding his snake. My mom and dad have formed a kind of friendship with him and so they only go to him for snake pictures, they are loyal.
David was very friendly and his snake didn't kill us, so everything was good!
On the way back we stopped and took a picture of this natural bridge.
It kind of looked like a dinosaur taking a drink...to me anyway.

That night we went to a restaurant in Castries right on the water. It's called the Coal Pot. It was beautiful. There were 3 cruise ships in port that day and we watched them leave.
Our meal was delicious! I had red snapper, Mike had barracuda, Dad had a chicken dish and Mom had salmon...then we finished we a fabulous crème brûlée :)
