Draper Temple Trip

Yesterday we went to the Draper temple with as many as could go.
The cousins (and Kenzie's friend Skylee) all did baptisms and the adults did sealings.

I took names that Mike had found and sent to me. I was so touched by the Spirit even as I sat and waited for the name cards to be printed up, so thankful that I could be there.
Mom helped me sort out the cards and then I took the baptism ones down to the baptistry so the kids could get started. Then I came back up and went in and did some sealings with Mom and Dad, Marcy and Norm, and Bob and Dresden. After that we went into the Celestial room for a little bit. The Spirit was very strong for me there and I offered a prayer, I really missed having Mike there with me.

Grace told me that she felt the Spirit pretty strongly, especially when she was baptized for Nellie (her great grandma Isom whom she had met). I'm so glad she could have that experience.

Here's Mike and all the kids with Nellie the last time we visited with her before she passed away.

Cousin Campout and Hike

This past weekend we crossed another thing off our summer fun list.
We had a cousin campout in Joe and Melanie's yard.
I know the kids loved sleeping out in the tents with each other.
Henry and Isaac in the boy tent

Grace, Maren, Julianne, Anna and Eve in the girl tent.

In the morning we all headed to hike Battlecreek Falls.

Clark Planetarium

Another thing on our summer fun list.
I went with my kids, except for Dallin who had plans to see a movie with some friends.
Melanie brought her kids. Blythe and Asher came and my mom and dad came too.
We paired all the kids up as buddies.
Isaac and Henry
 Anna and Julianne
Grace and Maren
Noah and Eve were the cutest buddies.
He was so good with her and they just looked so cute together :)
Everyone loved the big infrared camera exhibit where you could play around with hot and cold plates and see the thermal imaging results.

 Kids on the moon :)
 and on Mars!

Fun at Trafalga

My sister Marcy and I took our kids to Trafalga yesterday. I was also watching Joe and Melanie's kids so of course I brought them as well. We are really enjoying have the Pass of All Passes.

Holden got to drive a go cart and you could just see the joy on his face, probably as close as he will come to getting to drive a car... but who knows! We all had a fun time with the laser tag, climbing wall, Frog Hopper (Isaac told me his goal was to try and look bored on the Frog Hopper for the whole ride) mini golf and of course go carts.

Cousins temple trip

So awesome that these kids would get up so early to go to the temple.
(I guess I'm pretty awesome too, because I got up to take them there, ha ha)
Grace was so excited for her first temple trip.
It's cool that they could all go together, and my mom and dad were both assigned to the
font in the baptistry so they were there too.

We found out later from my parents that we were so smart to go early.
We had the place pretty much to ourselves, but by 6 or maybe 6:30
the place was packed and they said it didn't let up!
There was standing room only and people had to wait a LONG time just to get in.

Day Trip to Evanston

When I was about 12 or 13 my sister Jan and I spent a summer in Evanston Wyoming.
We lived with our cousin Lonnie and her husband Roger Cazin,
and we worked at their hardware store.
Since my dad is the youngest of 8 children, and his next sibling
is about 8 years older than him, most of my cousins on my dad's side of the family
are quite a bit older...many of them are older than my dad :)

Anyway, on the 3rd of October while my sister Jan was out here visiting from Georgia,
my dad, Jan and I took a trip to Evanston.
The hardware store has change A LOT since we worked there.
It's very different. It's more of a Home Goods store now.
We had fun looking around the store and visiting with Lonnie and Roger.
My Dad even bought me my birthday present while we were there.
We found a pretty purple glass cake stand :)
(I didn't get to have until my birthday though)

We also had a nice lunch with them.

The drive was fun too, just spending time with Jan and my Dad,
my Dad is not above being silly...he's a good sport too!
I also enjoyed looking out the window at the beautiful scenery :)

Chalk Treatment

Yesterday my Mom and Bob and Dresden and their kids, minus the teenagers, came for a visit.
(all of our teenagers are at scout camp or girls camp this week)

We had a good time hanging out together
playing games,
eating food,
watching old home videos,
playing outside,
stepping on rusty nails and getting tetanus shots...actually that was just Troy
and thankfully he's fine, and I couldn't believe how brave he was.

But one of the things we did that the kids absolutely loved
was giving their hair chalk treatment.

Dresden saw it on Pinterest or something I think
and showed us pictures of what she did with Leslie's hair before girls camp.
Naturally all the kids wanted to do it.

Before the chalk treatment though, Bob gave Isaac a much needed haircut.
I personally loved his curls,
but he was ready for something shorter and cooler for the summer.
The boys all wanted mohawks, or I guess I should say mochalks
and the girls had pony tails with colorful stripes

Even Sasha got in on the fun :)
