Father/Son Campout & Girl's Night

This year's father/son campout was different for my boys, of course, because Mike wasn't here to take them. Our kind home teacher offered to take them with him and his boys.
Blurry, but it's the only picture they gave me of the three of them together
Isaac loved throwing the tomahawks

They said they had a good time, but really missed having their dad there with them.

The girls and I had a good time together while they were gone. We went out to dinner at Costa Vida and then we got some yummy frozen yogurt at Menchie's.

We laughed a lot and just had fun together. At home we snuggled up and watched a movie :)

Cub Scout Day Camp 2012 : A Pirate Adventure

I went to Cub Scout day camp with Isaac last week.
This year it was a Pirate theme!
ARRRR!

Isaac had a great time
and I enjoyed spending the week with him and the other boys.

He made variety of things including

a bearclaw necklace, a treasure chest
an indian headband
and a catapult
Indian village
 Archery
BB guns
Tomahawk throw

He also did the slingshots, but I didn't seem to get a picture of him doing that :(

We enjoyed some time on the paddleboats...
I picked the worst day to forget my sunglasses
Kickball and other games

Digging for buried treasure
Playing in the pool
One of the young men in our ward works at the camp
Isaac loved seeing him everyday, he ran the slingshot range.
He even ate lunch with us most days.
Our group of boys
I made shirts for them
(I knew it would be easier to keep track of them this way...
and it just always makes them feel more together I think.)
The back of each shirt said Captain (and then the boy's name)
you can kind of see that on the bb picture and the games picture.
I had fun making them and they seemed to really like them.
It was a pretty fun week!
(it was also pretty exhausting!)

It's hard to believe that next year will be his last year at day camp
...and mine too I guess!
I really do love hanging out with my kids.

Boys are Crazy!

Yesterday Noah, his cousin Jonas, and his friend
Nathaniel had some paintball fun in our back yard.
Mike actually joined in on a few rounds too.

They say it's a lot of fun...
They say it doesn't hurt that bad!
The battle wounds look pretty painful to me!
(Normally when they play, they layer up their clothes...
I guess it was too hot yesterday for that extra protection!)
Noah asked me if I want to play next time...
I'll have to think about that!!

Boys outside, Girls inside

This past weekend Mike took the boys on the annual Father/Son campout (or Annual Aaronic Priesthood Commemoration Overnighter...that's a mouthful!)
He felt like our 3 boys wouldn't keep him busy enough so he also took the 4 boys of my friend Nanette. Her husband was away on military assignment and it was her birthday.

They all had a great time. Isaac was a little late to the camp out because of the talent show, but he said it was ok because he still got to roast marshmallows and have some s'mores :)

After we dropped Isaac off at the camp the girls and I went for frosty's and then came home and snuggled in my bed watching Ella Enchanted. The next morning we got up and went to Mimi's Cafe for breakfast.
It was a fun busy weekend!

Mud Brothers

After the novelty of the slip 'n slide wore off, the older boys found another way to entertain themselves.

Sons and boys camp out

If memory serves me correctly that is what one of my brothers used to call the fathers and sons camp out. I don't even think it is called fathers and sons anymore, now it's the Aaronic Priesthood Commemoration Camp out. Sorry, I will probably always call it the fathers and sons camp out.

...Anyway, whatever you want to call it, my boys always look forward to it.

Mike and the boys had a good time.

Mike even had a couple of extra "sons" this year, because their fathers couldn't go.
The jumbo marshmallows I sent with them were a big hit!

The girls and I got to enjoy some girl time too. This year we went shopping and then got some ice cream with my good friend Nanette and her two daughters Abigail and Sophie. We finished up our night by snuggling up in my bed and watching Tangled.

Do we need a padded room?

Tuesday afternoon the kids were playing on the trampoline and I was inside when I heard screaming...this is not unusual, so I wasn't really alarmed.
As I was going to see what happened, Noah brought Isaac inside and said, "Mom, Isaac's head is bleeding."
As soon as Isaac turned around I saw all the blood running from his head down the back of his neck...so did Grace and it really scared her. I think she really thought he was going to die and started to cry. I consoled her and told her that I was sure he was going to be ok (he wasn't even crying...until he saw the blood anyway.)

Noah was calm and cool and said, "Mom, let me help. This is what I'm trained for, they don't teach you about stuff like this in scouts for nothing." Of course I let him help, and he did a great job.

After we got the blood washed off and found the cut, it was pretty small. I know that head injuries are famous for bleeding a lot, but I was relieved that it wasn't serious.
Oh, and Isaac assured me that none of his brains came out :)
Isaac was tired of holding the cold pack on his head, so Noah came up with this...not sure why he didn't use one of the boy's scarves, but Isaac didn't seem to mind.

Maybe he thought it was the best match for Isaac's shirt.
I'm actually surprised that his shirt didn't have much blood on it. I guess it's because he was tilting his head down and most of the blood was pooling on his neck.

We're glad he's ok (we even still went to scouts that night)...and really glad that it wasn't another broken bone, or anything more serious.

Boys outside...Girls inside

This weekend was the annual Fathers and Sons camp out. This is something that my boys look forward to every year. I'm so thankful that they are able to go and have a good time. They went hunting for spiders. Ticks went hunting for them. Mike read more of Fablehaven 2 to them. They hung out with great friends. They played games and had good food. Noah even went on a 5 mile hike in the morning to pass off some scout requirements. They had a lot of fun.

The girls also look forward to this every year because it means girl time with mom. This year we decided to go to Red Robin for dinner and then I surprised them by taking them to Build-A-Bear Workshop. They were each given a gift card to Build-A-Bear for Christmas from a dear friend and I figured it was high time I took them there. They absolutely loved it. They each picked a pink unicorn and then chose matching pink wings so the unicorn could become a pegasus. When we left they were on top of the world. I heard, "this is the best day of my life!" I'm glad my iPhone has a camera since I forgot my other one.

Dress-up Mix-up

Yesterday Noah and Dallin had a friend over to play. For some reason they decided to get into the dress-up stuff and try to scare the girls. They came out several times with different combinations of dress-up things on and were rewarded with shrieks and screams from the girls (and sometimes Isaac.) I finally grabbed my camera and took some pictures, because I thought they were pretty funny actually.
See if you can figure out who is who.
Which one is Noah, which is Dallin and which one is their friend Brighton.Silly boys.

Fathers and Sons Campout

The rain kept coming but it didn't stop Mike and the boys from attending the Father Son Campout this weekend. They enjoyed spending time at the camp with other fathers and sons from our ward. They played in the rain, explored the camp, had fun roasting marshmallows, and the boys built a bridge across a ditch.
They came home filthy and happy!
They even survived the whole time with no Pokemon cards and no video games!
